Ace Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin produced a scintillating performance as Sri Lanka were bundled out for a paltry score of 82 here at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in the third and final T20 of the three-match series on Sunday.
Ashwin, who picked up four wickets for just eight runs in his quota of four overs, destroyed the Sri Lankan top order and from there on, the visitors were unable to retain the momentum. Apart from him, part-time off spinner Suresh Raina also scalped two wickets while Ashish Nehra, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah chipped in with a wicket each.
For the visitors, it was a sorry tale as only two batsmen were able to reach double figures. Earlier, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to field first on a pitch that seems to assist both the spinners and the pacers. Though the pitch is turning a lot, it shouldn't be difficult for the Indian batters to achieve the target and remain on top of the ICC T20 rankings.
