AP CM Chandrababu Wants CC Roads in All Villages

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called upon the officials to focus on providing road connectivity to the rural areas and to recharging the groundwater table. Speaking to district collectors and Janmabhoomi Committee members through a video conference from his camp office here on Wednesday, he said one should work with renewed enthusiasm in the wake of the Central Government complimenting the State Government over the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

“The state is going to rewrite history by laying cement roads to all villages. As against a target of 4,699 km of roads, proposals are ready for 4,527 km and work has already been completed in respect of 1,490 km roads,” the chief minister said.

Stating that the Panta Sanjeevini scheme would transform the landscape in rural Andhra Pradesh, he added: “When we reach the target of constructing of 50,000 farm ponds, we should celebrate the occasion. Our final target is to have over a lakh farm ponds,” the chief minister said. The chief minister said he would not tolerate lethargy in utilising funds allocated for panchayats. “I would not tolerate if the funds are misused or remain unspent,” the chief minister said.
