The 'OrthAlign, a new knee alignment navigation system with computerised applications, has been introduced at the Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Nellore, with a view to bringing the latest technology within the reach of the patients in Nellore district and surrounding areas.
This is for the fist time such an advanced knee surgery system was introduced in the city. “The new, highly tech-driven, system helps in correcting severe knee deformities with precision. The final outcome would be very much satisfactory for the patients unlike in the old traditional methods," said Madan Mohan Reddy, chief orthopaedic surgeon, Apollo Hospitals.
With the help of computerised assistance, the new system helps in cutting the bone with utmost accuracy in all angles and only to the required measure. Moreover, there are many other benefits such as stay at the hospital as an in-patient will be minimised, lesser blood loss during the surgery and also reduced post-surgery complications.
Dr. Madan Mohan Reddy said that the patient would lead normal life after the surgery with the help of this new system. Consultant orthopaedic surgeons Dr. Vivekananda Reddy and Dr. Meeravali were present.
