The state govt entrusted the responsibility to Akshaya patra and Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams to offer free food to pilgrims. In addition several voluntary organisations also serving free food to pilgrims. The government is able to offer free food to more than 7.5 lakh per day. The number is increasing with increase in crowds during the last phase of pushkarams. It may be noted that free food will be offered to one lakh people daily at Golden temple and Tirumala and to 40,000 devotees at Shirdi and Puri Jagannadhaswamy temples.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in a teleconference on Saturday directed the officials for documentation of free food distribution programme. He thanked all those organisations and men helped for distribution of free food to pilgrims during Krishna pushkaram. The state government made arrangements for supply of free food at pushkarnagars and at several other places for the convenience of devotees.
