The YSR Congress has ridiculed the reported remarks of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that there is nothing wrong in buying land for real estate business. The party alleged that the Chief Minister compromised his position as head of the State and violated the provisions under the oath of secrecy in revealing information about the new capital to his close confidants, who in turn purchased vast tracts of land from rightful owners. This was evident from the fact that Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, who headed the committee constituted by the State Government to identify suitable land for the capital, was allegedly involved in the purchase of huge extent of land in the periphery of the capital region, YSR Congress leader Botsa Satyanarayana alleged.
He demanded that the government restore the assignment lands purchased in the surroundings of the capital region to its rightful owners. At the same time, criminal action should be initiated against those who purchased these lands in contravention of the existing provisions of law, Mr. Satyanarayana demanded.
Inquiry sought:- He pooh-poohed the claims that rightful owners would get adequate compensation. Mr. Satyanarayana said that an inquiry should be ordered to ascertain how people from other districts purchased lands from the owners. “Mr. Narayana and senior leaders purchased lands in the name of their kin and associates as they had prior knowledge about the capital region,” he alleged, adding that the breach of oath of secrecy by the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues merited a judicial inquiry.
