EC announces election schedule for MLC elections


The Election Commission of India (ECI) declared Telangana Legislative Council election will be held on December 27th this year. This announcement came just few hours after the counting process of Warangal by-poll ended on Tuesday. So, Model Code of Conduct will come into force in the all the districts (except Hyderabad) from Yesterday evening itself.

As many as 12 vacancies will be filled with the upcoming MLC Elections. EC will issue the notification on December 2nd and nominations will be accepted till December 9th. Last date for withdrawal of nominations is December 12th. Polling will be held in MLC polls from 8 am to 4 pm.

The term of eight MLCs in Telangana expired on May 1st, 2015. Whereas, Term of Adilabad MLC expired on May 1st, 2013 itself. Telangana MLC Elections got delayed due to few issues with AP Reorganisation Act 2014. To resolve the issue, One seat each has been added to Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar and Karimnagar Local Authorities Constituencies.
