Modi Cabinet Reshuffle: More Mnisters Likely From Poll-Bound States

Ahead of crucial state Assembly elections in Goa, Punjab, UP, and PM Modi's home turf Gujarat next year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to reshuffle his Cabinet. Many new faces from poll-bound states may get berth in the new Council of Ministers and few Ministers of State (MoS) might be rewarded by promoting them to the rank of Independent Charge for their good performance.

Amid reshuffle speculation, PM Modi yesterday met his ministers and reviewed some important projects, official sources said.

PM's meeting with the Council of Ministers comes a day after he met Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at his residence. After the Wednesday meeting, speculation mounted that NDA government, that came in power in May 2014, may carry out its first major ministerial reshuffle.

According to sources, the following are the probable ones to be inducted in the Cabinet:

1. Rajveer Singh (UP)
2. Raghav Lakhanpal (UP)
3. Anupriya Patel (UP)
4. Ramen Deka (Assam)
5. Savitri Bai Phule (UP)
6. Rajesh Singh (Bihar)
7. Col. Sonaram Jat (Rajasthan)
8. Yogi Adityanath (UP)
9. Navjot Singh Sidhu (Punjab)

Ministers who might be elevated:

1. Piyush Goyal
2. Nirmala Sitharaman
3. Dharmendra Pradhan

Other MoS who might be promoted:

1. Kiren Rijiju
2. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi
3. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore

4. Sanjeev Balyan
