Good news for AP government as the Centre announced Rs. 20,000 crore for the outer ring road (ORR) project surrounding the AP capital region covering 180 km around Vijayawada and Amaravati. After laying a foundation stone for the flyovers at Kanaka Durga temple and Benz Circle, the Union Surface Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari, said the funds would be released once a detailed project report (DPR) is prepared for the project.
He assured that his ministry would take up various national highway project works worth Rs. 65,000 crore at different places in the State. "Already works worth Rs. 15,000 crore have started and I assure you the remaining works will also commence, once the State Government completes land acquisition and prepares DPRs," he said. Chandrababu Naidu government can heave as a sigh of relief as the Opposition has been gunning the government for not putting enough pressure on the Centre for sanction of projects in the state.
