The annual navahnika brahmotsavams got off to a grand start on Sri Rama Navami in the historic Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple at Vontimitta in Kadapa district on Friday. The dhwaja pathak bearing the image of Lord Garuda was hoisted on the temple pillar in a ceremonious manner amidst Vedic chants by archakas as per Pancharatra Agama.
Minister for Human Resource Development Ghanta Srinivasa Rao offered new silk vastrams on behalf of the State government to the presiding deities. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was committed to development of Vontimitta temple as a most sought after pilgrim centre, the Minister said.
A.P. Legislative Council Deputy Chairman S.V. Satish Kumar Reddy, Government Whip M. Mallikarjuna Reddy, Rajya Sabha member C.M. Ramesh, former Union Minister A. Sai Prathap, TTD joint executive officer P. Bhaskar, deputy EOs Balaji, Veera Brahmam and Varalakshmi, district TDP president R. Srinivasa Reddy and leaders S. Goverdhan Reddy, Ramgopal Reddy, and S. Subhan Basha took part.
Arrangements reviewed:- Later, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams JEO P. Bhaskar and Superintendent of Police Navin Gulati inspected the kalyana vedika site where Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam is slated on April 20. Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh E.S.L. Narasimhan and Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and other VIPs would participate in the kalyanam.
