Vijayawada will be the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced Thursday.
He told the assembly that the government has decided to "locate the capital at central place of the state around Vijayawada".
Naidu said the decision was taken in the state cabinet meeting Sep 1.
Chief Minister said that a discussion on this issue will take place only after the new capital is announced and he reminded that the state capital was announced in Prakasam Panthulu's house in the year 1953.
YSRCP created chaos in the assembly and they have been clearly saying from the past two days that they need a discussion about the state capital before the announcement itself.
Earlier, it was said that the new capital will be announced at 12.17 pm but Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu has made a statement at 11.18 am itself.
