With the issue of reservations for Kapus hogging the limelight, the BJP central leadership is said to be giving another thought for its earlier proposal to replace state BJP unit president K Haribabu with a strong leader from Kapu community. According to sources, the party central leadership has begun focusing on finalising new chief for the state unit of the party.
According to sources, the BJP leadership has reportedly zeroed in on the candidatures of party MLC Somu Veerraju and former minister Kanna Lakshminarayana from Kapu community. However, as both Veerraju and Lakshminarayana belong to Coastal Andhra, some Rayalaseema leaders are backing the candidature of party senior Challapalli Narasimha Reddy, who hails from Chittoor district. The BJP central leadership is said to be still holding consultations with the state leaders to take a final call.
