Ahead of impending GHMC elections, TRS has been attracting leaders of other parties into its fold to make political gains in the civic elections. In a latest development, Congress MLC M.S Prabhakar and TDP MLA G.Sayanna quit their parties and joined TRS this morning. Both the leaders met TRS President and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao at the latter's camp office and announced shifting of their loyalties.
Later, MLA Sayanna told reporters that he has joined TRS to ensure development of his constituency. Sayanna, who is also a member of the TTD Board, said he would soon quit his TTD membership too. “I want to ensure continuous flow of funds to my constituency so that development will take place," Sayana added.
Sayannna said he has been working for the TDP for the last several years but the party has not accorded due recognition to him so far. “Chief Minister KCR has been working hard for the implementation of welfare programmes and development of the twin cities. TRS is gradually gaining strength in the city and will certainly gain majority in GHMC polls," he said.
Congress MLC Prabhakar, who also spoke to reporters, said development is possible only through KCR and TRS Government."Injustice is being done to senior activists in the party. I want to contribute my part for the creation of Bangaru Telangana," said Prabhakar. Prabhakar in the past approached High Court seeking action against those who defected to TRS from Congress.
Rumours are afloat that some more MLAs and MLCs from TDP and Congress are likely to shift loyalties to TRS very soon. But there is no confirmation for these reports.
