Sania Mirza has been choosen as United Nations Women's Goodwill Ambassador for the South Asian region. She is gonna offer her services to work for violence against women and girls apart from raising awareness on gender equality.
While explaining the hardships she has to face in India as a sportswoman, Sania Mirza commented, "Its difficult to be a Sania Mirza in this country. I think a lot of controversies that I had faced in my career was because I am woman. Had I been a man, I could have avoided some of the controversies".
The Hyderabadi sensation opined a cultural change is required for opening doors for more women to come into sports in India. She stated Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is supporting women sports and that will improve the situation. She appealed Media which has the biggest voice to take the responsibility for a change.
