AP Government To Distribute One Lakh Fans


Encouraged by the positive results achieved in the CFL Bulb replacement campaign, AP Govt. and EPDCL in collaboration with EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Ltd.,) is planning to launch a pilot project to replace nearly one Lakh old fans with new energy efficient ones in a bid to conserve energy.

This pilot project is expected to be launched around third week of February-2016 in Narsapuram Village of West Godavari district. Energy efficient fans will be provided on installment basis to the users as a replacement to their old fans. The costs will be recovered on monthly electricity bills in 19 EMI's of INR. 100 each.

MD of EESL, Mr. Saurabh Kumar has opined that the new fans will be 40 % more energy efficient and are estimated to cut the yearly electricity bills by INR. 750 assuming that the saving will be 150 units @ INR. 5 per unit. The cost of the new fan will be recovered over a span of 3 years.

Official sources said the project was planned to be executed in the state of Andhra Pradesh given the encouragement provided by the authorities. They have already obtained go ahead from the Electricity Regulatory Commission to launch this project and depending on the success it will be planned for a nationwide launch.
