YSRC Terms AP Govt's Liquor Policy As 'Faulty'

YSR Congress has said that the TDP government has been pursuing its excise policy only to fill up its coffers turning a blind eye to the growing of illegal liquor outlets (belt shops). 'The directives given to the Excise Department is to increase the revenue targets and the government has been ignoring welfare measures to boost up its revenues,' party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here on Thursday.

Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to increase the revenue and the belt shops have increased to over 80,000. Implementation of welfare measures has never been a priority to the TDP government and corruption has been rampant at all levels, she said.

More pressing issues like getting from Centre what is due to us with assurances given and those included the have never been pursued, she said. The awareness camps being conducted ahead of the Chaitanya Yatra must be to impart training as to how blatant lies could be told and evade the core issues, she said adding that people should know the actual state of affairs.
