Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram on Wednesday warned the TRS Government of mass protest if it fails to provide relief to the drought affected people.
Speaking to media persons after submitting a memorandum to Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma at the State Secretariat, Kodandaram said that none of ministers, TRS legislators or even senior officials visited the drought hit areas to assess the situation. He said that the TRS Government was focused only on a few initiatives while lakhs of farmers were suffering due to severe drought.
Kodandaram said that the TJAC officials visited Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Warangal and Karimnagar districts to assess the drought condition. He said that the situation in several areas was quite alarming. He said that the TJAC would meet on Thursday to decide future course of action. He said that the TJAC would not remain a mute spectator to the sufferings of people of Telangana.
The JAC chief demanded that the State Government provide financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 per acre for drought hit farmers, supply drinking water and arrange fodder and water for cattle. He said people in drought hit areas should be given meals for affected people.
