Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on Sunday that drone technology will be used in tourism, agriculture, mines, forests, irrigation projects, maintenance of law and order and municipal administration for real-time governance.
Speaking at a review meeting with the officials of AP fiber grid project at his residence here, Naidu said that drone technology had come handy for crowd control, traffic management and crime control during the recently concluded Krishna Pushkarams. The state government used drone technology in housing and maintenance of canals for better results. He directed the officials to prepare an action plan for use of drones and surveillance cameras throughout the state.
Plans are also afoot to establish an academy in the state to impart training for maintenance and operation of drones, Naidu said. A four-member committee will be appointed to develop and formulate necessary guidelines to improve drone technology and surveillance cameras.
The committee would set up a single window system to develop the drone technology. He said that the committee has to prepare a road map after identifying the experts of drones worldwide and the services they are extending for better administration.
Naidu also said that a state-level command control centre would be set up in the state capital and similar major command control centres would be set up in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Anantapur. Command control centres also would be set up in district headquarters to help real-time governance. The command control centres will help to monitor the situation in all districts and take decisions immediately as part of real-time governance. The system would help to extend better and quick services to people.
Earlier, AP Fiber Grid MD K Sambasiva Rao gave a power point presentation on application of drones in real-time governance. Speaking on the occasion, he said that drones are being used in Japan for the past 25 years for spraying on crops and they are being used extensively in agriculture sector in USA, Australia and Switzerland. The drone technology will also help curbing illegal mining activities, monitoring of traffic on highways and improve services of several other sectors.
