After his remark on Intolerance during the Ramnath Goenka Excellence awards, ace actor Aamir Khan has been facing flak from celebreties, fans and also politicians. His remarks have also been criticised by filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma.
The director says that isolated incidents cannot be taken as a sign of intolerance and the super stardom of the Muslims are proof enough of the vast majority's tolerance. Below are the series of tweets he posted:
“Intolerence is being debated not bcoz of vast majority of Hindus, but bcoz of a minuscule minority of rabble rousers in both"
“The fact is that the vast majority connect only to individuals deeds and generalised hard feelings are nothing but juvenile noises"
“If u are really feeling like a family and there's a problem in the family, family members in public wont say theres intolerance in the family"
“It's the celebs need for creating drawing room debates to increase their popularity which flares up non existent negativity btwn communities"
“Isn't Aamir,Sharuk,Salman,3 Muslims becoming biggest stars of a Hindu country proof enough that india is tolerant?"
“Isolated incidents cant be taken as sign of intolerance and the super stardom of 3 Muslims is proof enough of the vast majority's tolerance"
“Some celebs complaining about Intolerance should be the last ones to complain becos they became celebs in a so called intolerant country"
“In a predominantly Hindu country,if 3 Muslims can become the biggest iconic super stars that itself proves the majority aren't intolerant"
“The problem with today's times is that we are drowning in information and starving for wisdom"
Ram Gopal Varma, via his Twitter account, hit out at the intolerance statement made by Aamir Khan and said that majority of the citizens are not intolerant if a predominantly Hindu country can make three Muslims as the three biggest superstars of our times.
