J&K: Militants Kill Two Policemen

At least two policemen were killed and four others were injured when militants attacked a police checkpost in south Kashmir's Anantnag town on Saturday. “Militants fired at security forces on K.P. Road in Anantnag town on Saturday morning,” a senior police officer told Private News Agency.

“Two policemen, an Assistant Sub-Inspector and a Constable, have been martyred in the attack while four others were injured.” “The injured have been shifted for treatment to a hospital. The area has been surrounded for searches.”

The attack comes a day after three BSF troopers were killed and seven others were injured in a guerrilla strike on a BSF convoy on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Bijbehara town in Anantnag. State Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is fighting by-elections from Anantnag assembly constituency where voting is scheduled for June 22.
