A businessman aiming at the Limca book of records displayed nearly 7.3 kg of gold jewellery on his body wearing a Rs 1.5 crore worth T shirt at a function in Himayat Nagar. The Maharashtra businessman was in the city to attend the house-warming ceremony of his younger brother Pradham Rajya Parakh, in Himayath Nagar. Pankaj Parakh said he had a love for gold from his childhood. Two to four security guards with weapons guard him, when he is out of town.
Pankaj Parakh is the Deputy Mayor of Yeola in Nashik district and is also a cloth merchant. His interest in gold started, when he was seven years old. He would wear a 5-gram chain. His interest in gold grew with him. “From the time I entered into business, I started wearing 3 kg of gold ornaments everyday. I thought I should present myself in a different way.
Two years ago I got this idea of this T shirt,” he said. It was designed by Pankaj and Sadhana Jewellers, Mumbai. Twenty workers worked 18 hours a day for two months. The cost: Rs 1.5 crore. He enjoys the attention but worries about safety. “We made a fire- and tamperproof box for the shirt,” he said.
