Aimed at the ultra-rich class people, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), is devising plans to start a 'Wedding on Wheels' package, which comes at a jaw-dropping price of Rs 5.5 crore. This package consists of a week-long extravaganza aboard the Maharajas' Express. Apart from enjoying the week-long wedding festivities, the guests-cum-passengers can also traverse through Incredible India in one of the luxurious trains of Indian Railways.
Booking the entire train for an eight-day wedding package will cost differently for different packages. The cost is about Rs 5.5 crore for the Heritage of India tour, from Mumbai to Delhi through Ajanta, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ranthambore and Agra. For the Indian Panorama tour that starts and ends in the National Capital after covering Jaipur, Agra, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Varanasi and Lucknow, the cost is a bit less.
Not just the weddings but IRCTC is also planning to host high class corporate events, film shoots, fashion events etc. in this package, which will come into effect from December this year. The train has 43 guest cabins - 20 deluxe, 18 junior suites, 4 suites and 1 Presidential suite fitted across 24 coaches. The minimum fare per person for the eight-day Heritage of India tour starts at Rs 4.5 lakh and goes up to Rs 16 lakh for the presidential suite.
