The much awaited five-day annual float festival, Teppotsavam, began on a grand note in the temple tank of Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple, here on Tuesday evening. On the first day, processional deities of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana were taken in a procession on the dazzling flotilla for five times around the 'pushkarni'.
The array of lights offered a visual delight to the devotees who thronged to witness the fete in huge numbers. The religious atmosphere was further supplemented by bhajans, harikathas and music programmes by artistes of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishat and Annamacharya Project. On Tuesday, the deity of Sri Parthasarathy will be taken in a procession on the flotilla and the event would continue till Saturday, conducted everyday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
