After author Ramachandra Guha, the Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has spoken in support of actor Ramya. "What's wrong with what she said?" questioned Siddaramaiah. "Didn't Narendra Modi attend Nawaz Sharif's granddaughter's wedding in Pakistan? Were they such close relatives?" he added.
It has been a week since actor Ramya was slapped with sedition charges, after a Karnataka lawyer filed a case against her in Kodagu. Actor-turned-politician Ramya had rejected defence minister Manohar Parrikar's claim that Pakistan was like hell.
"All she said was she was treated well by Pakistan while attending the SAARC meet," said Siddaramaiah. The CM took a dig at the Opposition too. "The BJP and the ABVP unnecessarily want to politicise the issue. There is no issue at all. Poor Ramya said nothing wrong."
Actor Ramya has already said that she stands by her statement and that she will fight it legally. The case is now posted to October 19.
