BJP has declared the former Congress MLA Jagga Reddy (Jayaprakash Reddy) as its candidate after a long search as its last defeated candidate Narendranath was not keen to contest.
Announcing his candidature Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy, the choice fell on Jagga Reddy to oppose the bigwigs of the Congress (Sunitha Lakshma Reddy) and Kothapeta Prabhakar Reddy (TRS). The seat was won by Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao with a huge margin of 3.7 lakh votes and earlier in 2009 actor Vijayashanti had won the seat with a tough contest given by the BJP and the Congress candidates.
Jagga Reddy said at BJP state office that he was a veteran BJP and ABVP worker who had strayed into other political outfits in the past decade. He was a popular figure on the side of the ex-congress CM Kiran Kumar Reddy and had become controversial for more reasons than one.
