TDP MLA Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu made sensational comments on the burning issue, Special Category Status. Speaking to the media in Chennai, Gali said: 'CM Chandrababu Naidu never sought Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. He only asked for Rs 5 lakh crore at the time of bifurcation. Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu told Centre has sanctioned Rs 2.25 crore so far in the form of funds, institutions, schemes and projects. If Centre has really sanctioned so much, People get the doubt what has Chandrababu Naidu done with it?'.
'Special Category Status is a matter related to BJP alone. Had if M Venkaiah Naidu hasn't spoken about it in Parliament, No one would have even known about it. When then PM Manmohan promised Special Status for 5 years, Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitley demanded it be extended to 10 years. They even promised to accord it if BJP formed the Government at Centre. People of AP were in a dire state. Now, Centre says there will be no use of Special Status. If there is no use, What is the problem to sanction it. Even 14th Finance Commission never said Special Status shouldn't be accorded'.
