Rajya Sabha member and TRS secretary general K Keshav Rao on Sunday expressed confidence of winning all the 12 council seats under the local authorities' constituencies (LAC). Addressing a press conference here, Keshav Rao said that the TRS was going to win all the 12 seats going to polls on December 27.
The vacant seats include Adilabad Local Authorities' Constituency, Nizamabad Local Authorities' Constituency, Karimnagar Local Authorities' Constituency - 2 seats, Medak Local Authorities' Constituency, Ranga Reddy Local Authorities' Constituency - 2 seats, Mahabubnagar Local Authorities' Constituency - 2 seats, Nalgonda Local Authorities Constituency, Warangal Local Authorities' Constituency, Khammam Local Authorities' Constituency.
EC issued notifications on December 2 for the polls. Last date of filing nominations is December 9. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on December 10, and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is December 12. Date of polling is December 27 and counting of votes would take place on December 30. Announcing the names of candidates, Keshav Rao said that his party would win all the 12 seats and the parties' strength would show in the results.
He announced six names. One name was announced on Friday itself. He said that Balasani Laxminarayana was the candidate for Khammam, Bhoopati Reddy for Nizamabad, K Bhanu Prasad and Naradasu Laxman for the two seats of Karimnagar district, P Satish for Adilabad and V Bhoopal Reddy for Medak. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had already announced the name of T Chinnapareddy as the candidate for Nalgonda on Friday.
Keshav Rao said that there had been no discussion on the name of a woman candidate but added, “We cannot undermine representation of women,” he said. “These elections are through local body representatives. They are already elected by people and their advice also should be taken in finalising the candidate. You need to look into their point of view,” said Keshav Rao.
Leaders who fit to the ideology of the party, commitment and sincerity are seen before declaring candidate, he said. Replying to a question, he said that TRS would take anybody who is willing to be a part of Bangaru Telangana. “TRS has reached people's phase. If someone wants to come we will take them otherwise we will be failing in our duty,” said Rao.
