At a time when every Indian was praising Narendra Modi-led NDA government for giving a befitting reply to Pakistan through the recent surgical strikes, believed to be the first of its kind operation, the Congress on Tuesday revealed that surgical strikes were not new to Indian army and similar operations were conducted thrice during their rule.
In a media meet, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala announced this news and added that Congress-led UPA govt. did not encourage loud statements about those three surgical strikes, carried out in September 2011, July 2013 and January 2014, keeping the national security in mind.
Responding to the question of Pakistan's denial on surgical strikes, he said that the Congress has no doubt on the statements made by DGMO. 'The government however needs to prove the Pakistan's propaganda false by providing all information and evidence on surgical strike. It's the job of the govt. to kill the doubts of everyone and also expose Pakistan's bluff before the entire world," Surjewala added.
