While the cops are buys racking their brains to nail former Congress MLA Malladi Vishnu, it is learnt that the accused leader in the Krishnalanka spurious liquor case is busy swimming and meeting friends and party leaders.
"Vishnu is attending his swimming sessions regularly at the place where he goes always. He is also in touch with his close friends and party associates," a Congress leader not wanting to be named said. Senoior Congress leaders said that Vishnu is very much in the city and his lawyers had already moved an anticipatory bail in a city court to prevent his arrest in connection with the case.
A SIT official, however, said that it is impossible for Vishnu to get an anticipatory bail in the light of the seriousness of the case. "Five special teams are looking out for him and his family. The accused has run away from the city to avoid arrest," he said. Vishnu, A9 in the case, moved the Vijayawada metropolitan sessions court in the late hours of Tuesday. "We know that he had applied for the bail. Very soon, we will trace the location of Malladi Vishnu and others," said the SIT official.
SIT officials had served arrest warrant notices on Vishnu on December 12. But he didn't respond to the notices and went absconding. Meanwhile, the samples of the killer liquor that were picked up from Swarna Bar have been sent to the Central Forensic Lab, Delhi. "It will take two more days to get the sample report from the lab. All the details will be made public," said SIT in-charge Mahesh Chandra Ladda. It was on December 7 five daily wagers had lost their lives when after consuming spurious liquor.
While two victims are still battling for their lives, 27 others have been discharged from various hospitals. The special investigation team (SIT) with nine members was constituted on December 9 following a public outcry.
