Main accused in Chittoor Mayor case surrenders


Chintu, who is accused number one in the case relating to the sensational murder of Chittoor Mayor Katari Anuradha and her husband Mohan, has surrendered before a Chittoor Court this morning. He is the nephew of Katari Mohan. Chintu and his men murdered the Mayor Anuradha and her husband Mohan in the Mayor cabin after entering her room wearing burqas posing as Muslim women . They shot the Mayor dead from very close range and stabbed Mohan repeatedly injuring him sriously. Mohan died in the hospital while undergoing treatment.

Chintu quietly came to the fourth additional Junior Civil Judge court after the court opened and surrendered before the judge. He then submitted several documents to the Judge. After the news of his surrender, a good number of policemen have been deployed at the court premises.

It may be recalled that the investigating police had earlier arrested seven of the accused in the case, They were Parandhama, Haridas and others. Muruga, the husband of Corporator Mangala, G.S. Venkatachalapati, 51 of Kolar, T.Manjunath, 27 , of Gangavaram in Chittoor district and K. Jayaprakash, 23, of Chittoor town were also among the arrested. With Chintu surrender, the number of the arrested has gone to 8 so far in the case.

Chittoor Police have launched a man hunt in Karnataka for two more accused in the case, Venkatesh and Mogili. Chintu is the main accused in the case. He reportedly scripted the plot to eliminate Mayor Anuradha and her husband to settle scores with them over property disputes.
