Petrol bombs Thrown At Katthi Movie Theater

Petrol bombs thrown at theatres meant to screen Katthi

Petrol bombs were hurled at two cinemas in Tamil Nadu which were scheduled to screen Katthi, the controversial film starring Vijay. Nobody was hurt; glass windows were shattered at the theatres.Unidentified persons pelted stones at Satyam Theatre and Woodlands theatre late last night, damaging property.

The attack is suspected to the handiwork of pro-Tamil groups opposed to the release of Vijay starrer 'Kaththi'. The high-budget film has been facing boycott and protests for many allege that that the owner of Lyca Productions, which produced the film, has business links with Sri Lankan President, Mahinda Rajapaksa, who has been accused of committing war crimes in the Eelam war

Makers have promised to remove LYCA Productions from the movie's titles to put an end to the controversy. The film will be hitting theatres tomorrow.This is the first of its kind in Indian cinema- Kaththi is releasing without banner name in posters.

 Hero Vijay released a statement thanking producers and also AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa. "Over the last few days, few Tamil outfits have been demanding that references to Lyca Productions be removed from the film's banner and title. Since the producers have agreed to remove the name from the title and banner, the conflict has been resolved and decks have been cleared for its release this Deepavali. I hope the fans and public enjoy the film this Deepavali. I thank J. Jayalalithaa for all the support. I also thank the police and exhibitors," Vijay said in a statement.

The film was directed by AR Muragadoss and Vijay will be seen romancing with Samanta for the first time.
