Seven persons including six pilgrims and a woman pilot named Sumita Vijayan were killed in a chopper crash near the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu earlier this week. The woman pilot was identified as Sumita Vijayan from Hyderabad. Media channels reported the matter and they mistakenly used the photo of other woman with the same name.
They extracted the photo of a girl named Sumita Vijayan and printed in their reports. Actually the photo media used was Sumita Vijayan, a Kerala-born resident, now settled in UAE. Smitha Vijayan got calls from her friends, colleagues, and relatives after they saw her pictures in different Indian newspapers
Now Sumita took to facebook and had to clarify that she is alive. "Dear all, please do not be overwhelmed with the rubbish by media!! I m very much alive and breathing!!" she wrote. She has threatened to sue media outlets which used her picture if they fail to apologise.
