Another MLA of YSR Congress Party switched loyalties to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. Chand Basha, a member of assembly from Kadiri in Anantapur district, joined the TDP in the presence of party president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada.Basha is the 13th legislator from the opposition party to defect to TDP. The sudden decision of Basha took YSRCP leaders by surprise and now they started analyzing reason behind his defection.
YSRCP leaders alleging that Andhra Pradesh Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivas played a key role in getting Chand Basha, into TDP.As per reports Kamineni stayed put at Chief Minister Naidu's residence monitoring the events till Basha joined TDP. Interestingly, Kamineni is the incharge minister for Anantapur.
Kamineni is not a TDP man and he got ministry as part of alliance with BJP. Some leaders from BJP is unhappy with Kamineni's role in the defections and accusing him of acting like a TDP lackey and not a BJP man. Meanwhile YSRCP activists in Kadiri have strongly protested Chand Basha leaving the party to join the TDP. Party workers and minorities gathered in large number at the local Ambedkar Centre in Kadiri and shouted slogans against the turncoat MLA.
