Launching a broadside at the TRS government, BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday labelled it as "the most corrupt in the country." Shah also trained his guns on chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for not celebrating Hyderabad Liberation Day officially and charged him with being 'scared' of MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi. "KCR ji, it is not Owaisi who made you chief minister, but the people of Telangana."
The BJP chief was addressing a public meeting here to mark Hyderabad Liberation Day. He also accused the TRS government of diverting Rs 90,000 crore released by the Centre and spending it to buy MLAs from other parties.
Shah said the Telangana government was "not honouring those who fought for the liberation of the state from the tyrannical rule of the Nizam." The chief minister is indulging in vote-bank politics to appease one section of the society. The BJP is not scared of anybody. We will celebrate the Liberation Day and make it official as there is no doubt about the BJP coming to power in Telangana after the 2019 elections, he said.
In a virtual launch of the BJP's campaign for the 2019 assembly polls in the state, Shah called upon people of Telangana to defeat TRS. Incidentally, Shah made Warangal the platform for attacking Chandrasekhar Rao and his party. It was here that the chief minister, during the run up to the formation of Telangana, warned the then state government of dire consequences if September 17 was not officially celebrated as the Liberation Day.
Praising Telangana as a great land of history and heritage, Shah said Chandrasekhar Rao "is ineligible to rule such a great land. We have honoured those who fought for liberation of Telangana. Telangana is the land of Bhadrakali and we respect this land. Telangana is land of Rani Rudrama Devi, which we respect. KCR is not eligible to rule such a great land." "When the governments of Maharashtra and Karnataka are celebrating September 17 as Liberation Day, what prevents Telangana from doing so?" he sought to know.
Dwelling on the problems being faced by people of the state, Amit Shah said the TRS government was not passing on the benefits of central government schemes to the people. He wanted to know from the chief minister why the state government had not given input subsidy to farmers from drought-hit mandals even after the Centre released Rs. 900 crore towards drought relief to Telangana. He also wanted to know why the state government had 'failed' to fulfill its promise on farm loan waiver scheme.
He said if people want a government that is corruption free, development-oriented, and "free of the fear of Owaisi," then they must strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and vote for the BJP in the next elections. State BJP president Dr K Laxman, party legislators and leaders also addressed the large gathering.
