AP Asks TS To Give Land If Not Cash, Under AP Reorganization Act

The Andhra Pradesh government seemingly wants to hold on to its common capital of Hyderabad with Telangana in the form of land.

According to reports, the TDP government in Andhra said that if the Telangana government cannot pay the 52 per cent of share that is due to AP as part of the AP Reorganization Act in cash, it wants land in Hyderabad as compensation.

Andhra is scheduled to have a meeting with Telangana and the government of India in Delhi on September 20.

Value of Land & Structures: Rs 17,001 crore

Institutions listed under Schedule X: Rs 16,070 crore

Fixed Deposits: Rs 2,970 crore

Cash Deposits in various Banks: Rs 1,663 crore

Value of Infrastructure: Rs 335 crore

Quoting sources, the report adds that Naidu will use this division as a leverage to protect the interests of Andhra Pradesh in Hyderabad. “We know that the Telangana government does not have the funds to pay us. That being the situation, they should compensate us with land equivalent to the value in Hyderabad," an AP official told Media.

Earlier this week, Andhra Pradesh legislators bid an emotional farewell to the Legislative buildings in Hyderabad after what could be their last session there as the next meetings would be held in the under-construction buildings at Velagapudi in Amaravati.
