Special court will be set up to try graft cases during Congress rule, says AP CM

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said a special court will be set up shortly to try corruption and other financial irregularities committed in the 10-year Congress regime (2004-14) and “confiscate" assets, which will be utilised for public welfare activities. Participating in the ongoing Jana Chaitanya Yatra at L. Kota, about 70km from here on Monday, Mr. Naidu said during the past decade the developmental activities suffered a setback and the State was pushed back to 10 years. He said the Congress and the YSRCP were against development of the State and appealed to people to cooperate with the present government. Reiterating his stand that bauxite mining in Visakha Agency would be taken up with the consent of locals, he blamed the Congress for allotting mining to its men in the past.

He said Vizianagaram would become a smart city if the proposed international airport at Bhogapuram was materialised. He promised to put the district on the path of development by linking rivers and thousands of minor irrigation tanks. Already Thotapalli was completed and the envisaged ayacut would be supplied water after completing link canals.

Land acquisition for the link canals was going on and work on it would be completed in a couple of months, he added. With regard to tribal university at Kothavalasa, he said classes would begin from next academic year once the minor irritants cleared officially. TDP president Kala Venkata Rao had a word of praise for CM's son Lokesh and asked party men to rally behind him. Ministers Atchan Naidu and Mrunalini were present.

Meanwhile, TDP general secretary N. Lokesh addressed the Jana Chaitanya Yatra of the TDP at Cheedikada in Madugula constituency in Visakhapatnam district. Earlier, Panchayat Raj Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, MLC and TDP district president P.a Chalapathi Rao and MLA V. Ramakrishna Babu welcomed Mr. Lokesh on his arrival at the Visakhapatnam airport.
