IN a historic move against the 'Red Terror', thousands of people on Saturday exhibited their daredevil courage by taking out 'Lalkar Rally', marking open challenge to the leftist-extremists. Thousands of villagers had arrived from different areas across the Bastar division to be part of 'Lalkar Rally'.

Under leadership of Agni's National Convener Anand Mohan Mishra, Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, SRP Kalluri, Superintendent of Police RN Dash and others, the rally originated from local Hata Maidan, around 1 pm. Enthusiast villagers, carrying plaques bearing anti-Naxal slogans, were shouting slogans 'Naxalvad Murdabad' while passing through various prominent locations that comprised Panama Chowk, Rajmahal Road, Danteshwari temple, Sirasar, Main Road, SBI Chowk, Shahid Park Triangle and others.

On reaching the Hata Maidan, the rally culminated into a massive gathering. Some villagers could not prevent them from dancing on tune of local musical instrument 'Madded'. A troupe of the local folk artists was also giving performance while the rally was on move. At closure of the public meeting, tribals and school kids gave an enthralling stage performance in the presence of mammoth gathering.

Elaborate security ensures successful rally: THE local police administration had made elaborate security arrangements in view of the massive rally. Dozens of DSP rank officials were put on alert. Besides, anti-mines protector vehicle was also put on alert to avoid untoward incident during the meeting. People in the crowd were under surveillance of drone cameras.

Furthermore, over 1000 CAF and District Force personnel were also deployed from the security point of view. Traffic police had also made sufficient arrangement to ensure smooth passage of traffic. Entry of four vehicles was prohibited near the Hata Maidan. Earlier, a motorcycle rally was also taken out to make people aware of the Lalkar Rally.
