Angry over the Andhra Pradesh cabinet's decision to urge the Centre to restrain the Telangana government from proceeding further with new irrigation projects on Krishna and Godavari rivers, leaders of Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) have met GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy here and urged him to stall the sanitation works and cut the water and power supplies to the residences of AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and all his ministerial colleagues residing in Hyderabad.
The Andhra Pradesh cabinet, which met on Monday, resolved to represent to the Centre that the irrigation projects undertaken by Telangana are against the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act.
A delegation led by Telangana BC Forum president Anjaneya Goud, TRSV president G Srinivas Yadav, TGPF president K Krihsna Goud and others met the commissioner in his chamber at GHMC head office here on Tuesday and requested him to stall sanitation works, cut water and power supplies to the residences of Naidu and other ministers for opposing the irrigation projects being undertaken by the Telangana government.
The KCR-led Telangana government is constructing Palamuru, Rangareddy lift irrigation (LI), Dindi LI and enhancement of Kalwakurthi LI, Medigadda and other barrages to utilise the state's share of 1,300 tmcft of water. While the projects were being praised by the Telangana people, it was unfortunate that Chandrababu Naidu and his colleagues termed them as illegal irrigation projects, they said. Andhra Pradesh leaders have no right to drink Telangana water and hence all the essential and civic facilities should be stalled, Anjaneya Goud said.
