Eight Maoists, including five women were killed in an exchange of fire with police at Gottipadu forest area in Sukma district on Khammam-Chhattisgarh border, today. The battle zone is barely 15 km from Charla mandal of Khammam district in Telangana, police said. Telangana police and Chhattisgarh Central force have launched a joint operation. Police recovered one AK 47,Two SLRs, and three .303 rifles from the scene. The CPI (Maoist) Venkatapuram Area Committee Secretary Lachanna alias Kunja Veeraiah, is believed to be among those killed in the exchange of fire, according to sources.
