AP to notify Capital Area !!

Close on the heels of the passage of Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Bill, the Andhra Pradesh State government has decided to notify the capital area and land pooling scheme in the cabinet meeting likely to take place on January 2.

A top source told The Hans India that the senior officials of State Municipal Administration and Urban Development department have been asked to prepare a note on the land pooling scheme, which was already announced by the State government. The note would be put before the cabinet meeting which is likely to be held primarily to discuss this issue on January 2.

Under the land pooling scheme, the State government had decided to give a fully developed plot of 800 to 1000 square feet residential area, and 200 to 300 square feet of commercial area, depending on the upland and wetlands, towards compensation of the lands that they are ready to give for building the newly-proposed State capital. However, the land pooling scheme can be put on fast track only when the State government could notify an area in which it intended to roll out the scheme. Hence, taking this aspect into consideration, it was also decided to name the area in which first the government wanted to implement the scheme.

Also, the cabinet is likely to discuss on the steps to be taken under Section 4(2) (I) of the Act about nominating four experts of national and international repute to be members of the authority. It has already decided and announced to take one or two members from the Singapore team that is preparing the master plan to the new capital city. “Unless this provision is given effect, it would not be possible for nominating them,” the officials said.

Once this process is done, then only the authority would be in a position to constitute the executive committee of the CRDA to make it fully functional. It is against this back drop, that the cabinet is expected to discuss all these issues to give effect to the provisions of the CRDA Act. Meanwhile, the MA&UD officials feel that a full meeting of the CRDA might meet sometime in between last or first week of February.
