Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday said that he was praying for Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad, the Indian Army Jawan who was miraculously found alive six days after an avalanche hit the Army base in Siachen. "Praying for Lance Naik Hanumanthappa. Fighter, braveheart. Salute to the courageous soldiers who lost their lives in #SiachenAvalanche," Sachin tweeted.
Echoing similar sentiments, Bollywood star Aamir Khan said that he is praying for the speedy recovery of Koppad and that his thoughts were with the braveheart's family. "Kudos to the recovery team who have fought against all odds in the most difficult conditions to bring about this miracle. Our salute to all his comrades whose lives were lost in this calamity. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Jai Hind," Aamir tweeted. Meanwhile, Koppad, who was miraculously found alive after remaining buried under snow for six days, is comatose and his condition is extremely critical.
Fortunately, there was no cold exposure-related frost bite or bony injuries to him, a medical bulletin issued by the hospital said. "He has been placed on a ventilator to protect his airway and lungs in view of his comatose state. He remains extremely critical and is expected to have a stormy course in the next 24 to 48 hrs due to the complications caused by re-warming and establishment of blood flow to the cold parts of the body," a medical bulletin issued by the Army Hospital Research and Referral said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh, had visited the soldier at the hospital earlier today.
