Andhra Speaker: Mount pressure on Centre for special status

AP Speaker urges People to pressurize Centre

Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao has called upon people to join forces to mount pressure on the Centre to grant special category status to the State.

He lamented that the Central government had failed to keep its promises made in Parliament. He expressed concern over the contradictory statements made by people at the helm of affairs in the Central government that were creating confusion among the people. He said the State had every right to be given special category status.

Dr. Siva Prasada Rao, who was here to attend a private function spoke to media before leaving for Vijayawada. He expressed anguish that State bifurcation had brought financial, political, employment, investment, and education health problems to the new State. The city of Hyderabad has developed immensely in undivided Andhra Pradesh and opined that Hyderabad might have been the main cause for the bifurcation.

Replying to a question on adverse comments made against the Chair, he termed the issue as a challenge to the Chair and he was confident of proving the abilities in this regard. The Speaker said Sattenapally constituency would enter the Guinness Book of World Records for the contribution made towards sanitation. He said 20,000 individual sanitary latrines were constructed in 150 days in the constituency.

All these latrines were constructed for the below poverty families and the whole process was geo-tagged, he added. The Speaker said cleanliness and sanitation plays a vital role in health aspects of the public health and he promised to work as social activist for promotion of health and hygiene.
