Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa faced defeat in the recently concluded Presidential Polls. Accepting his defeat, He even congratulated the Opposition Leader Mithripala Sirisena who will be the next President.
Mahinda Rajapaksa won Presidential polls twice and has been in power for the past decade. Fearing anti-incumbency, He went for polls 2 years in advance and the decision costed him dearly.
Mithripala Sirisena who worked as Mahinda Rajapaksa's Minister quit the party following differences with leadership. To everyone's surprise, Sirisena joined the Opposition Party and he was chosen as Presidential Candidate. His promises of Corruption-free Sri Lanka and Constitutional Reforms worked in favour of him.
