It is certain that the Maoists are now following the footsteps of Islamic State (ISIS) in training kids to build a child brigade. In many districts of Jharkhand, naxal groups are conducting meetings with village sarpanches and seeking their help to make kids in the villages to join their outfit. According to sources, the Maoists are training the children in using guns.
Naxals also demand village sarpanches to help them as they stood behind them during panchayat elections, sources added. They allegedly threaten the village heads with dire consequences if they do not oblige them. In places like Gumla, Lohardaga and Latehar regions, naxals have issued a notice to sarpanches to handover ten kids from each village.
Though, the villagers have refused to allow their children to join naxals, the extremist groups are threatening them with serious consequences. Maoists are even not allowing the villagers and tribals to avail profits from forests.
Police have formed special teams after receiving information that naxals are abducting children to form child brigades. Security forces have intensified combing operation in Bishunpur area and it is also informed that they have rescued around 250 kids from joining the extremist group.
