FBI To Question Hillary Clinton On Email Scandal: Report

The FBI would question Hillary Clinton over the use of a private email server during her tenure as the U.S. Secretary of State, media reports have said. The FBI and Justice Department are investigating if there was any violation of rules or if any sensitive information was compromised because of this email scandal. Ahead of Ms. Clinton's interview, the top investigating agency questioned one of her close confidant Huma Abedin, Fox News reported.

CBS News said Ms. Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, will be interviewed by the FBI within the coming weeks in connection with the investigation into her private email server. The Clinton campaign has said it's confident that the FBI's review “will conclude that nothing inappropriate took place,” CBS News reported.

However, there has been no official word on the investigation. Ms. Clinton (68), has already admitted that the use of a personal email server was a mistake. But she insists that no classified information was compromised because of this.

Ms. Clinton's use of a private server for both official and private correspondence first came to light in 2015 during Republican-led congressional investigations into her handling of a militant attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya. The assault in 2012 left the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans dead. The FBI has since launched a criminal investigation amid Republican charges that use of the unsecured system endangered national security.
