Panchayat Raj Minister KT Rama Rao said the Telangana government is proposing four corporations and some municipalities for their inclusion in the Central government’s Smart Cities programme.
Intervening in the debate on the demands of municipal administration and urban development in the Assembly on Wednesday, Rama Rao said once the Centre finalises the guidelines for the scheme, the state would get clarity as to which city or town would be included in the scheme.
Earlier, Congress member P Ajay Kumar thanked the government for suggesting the name of Khammam corporation for the Smart Cities programme.
Priority for Rural Roads: KTR
Stating that the government is planning to develop roads in rural areas on a par with cities, panchayat raj minister K T Rama Rao said the government is allocating funds to develop roads in the rural areas. Rama Rao said a GO giving clearance to lay BT roads in an extent of 12,006 km has been issued.
