God belongs to every one. But Gods lands have been grabbed by some anti social and political elements for their personal benefit. In Telangana 16,378 acres of land worth Rs.50,000 crore out of 84,183 acres belonging to temples donated by kings, chieftains and philanthropists have been grabbed.
Most of the temple properties in Hyderabad city including the lands belonging to TTD, Saibaba Trust of Puttaparthi and Shirdi, Mantralayam and Srisailam etc have been grabbed. '97 % of temple lands in Hyd are encroached by land grabbers with support of congress, MIM and TDP legislators' says a survey by CCLA submitted to Govt recently in the directions of Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Of the 5200 acres of temple lands in Hyderabad city almost 5070 acres have been grabbed. Similarly the Raghavendraswami temple of Mantralayam which was given nearly 9000 acres by the Nizam in Kurnool and Mahbubnagar district have also been grabbed by local congress and TDP leaders. 'We have less than 200 acres now' laments a Raghavendraswami temple official.
A CMO official said the CM has plans to formulate a task force and a expert team of officials and philanthropists to find ways and means to take back such lands as most of them are benami in name of urban and rural poor while enjoyed by the rich and influential.
