The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Laxmaiah today alleged that 171 farmers committed suicide after formation of Telangana State.
Speaking to the media here, Laxmaiah said that the suicides of farmers were continuing in the TRS government also. Out of 171 farmers suicides which were reported after Telangana State formation, 30 were from the constituency of the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He alleged that KCR was delaying implementation of the promises, by giving priority to unimportant subjects. He said in a satirical manner that KCR was acting like King Nero.
He said that KCR was showing apathy on the issues of drought, erratic power supply and farmers’ suicides. KCR seems to have no time even to discuss the issues being faced by the farmers in the State. As a Chief Minister, the thoughts of KCR were touching sky, but in implementation, it was zero.
Ponnala reminded that it was the credit of the Congress that it had implemented free power to farmers from the first day after coming to power. The Congress government had also waived Rs 1200 crore power dues immediately after coming to power.
