Hours after a man hurled a shoe at Rahul Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress party vice-president said that he doesn't fear the Bharatiya Janata Party or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and invited them to “throw as many shoes" as they wish to.
“Want to tell BJP, RSS people…throw as many shoes on me as you want, I don't fear you," he said. Gandhi, who was in Sitapur as part of the Congress' “Khat Sabha", told supporters at a party meeting that the shoe did not hit him, but the person standing next to him.
“A short while ago somebody hurled a shoe on us, it didn't touch me..but hit him (person next to RG) on the arm. Your anger is your weakness, I am not going to take it even if you give it to me," Gandhi said. The man who hurled the show at Gandhi was arrested by police. The Congress scion has been attending Khat Sabhas to interact with farmers and discuss their problems ahead of the state assembly elections.
