The Akhila Bharata Kuchipudi Natya Kala Mandali (ABKNK), a brainchild of Kuchipudi maestro Vempati China Satyam, continues to play a laudable role in promotion of Indian classical dances. The cultural association has completed 33 years of service, spreading the dance form of Kuchipudi across the globe apart from encouraging all other Indian classical dances through dance festivals.
“Our first motto is to encourage a Kuchipudi dancer from anywhere in the world to perform it here in the village temple. Now-a-days dancers make a beeline to showcase their talent in Kuchipudi dance," said ABKNK founder secretary Pasumarthy Kesava Prasad.
Mr. Kesava Prasad said that the association became a prime source for those who attempt to document dance history of the village as it has a treasure trove of historical documents and various means of evidences of the dance. It had several milestones to its credit in conducting national level dance festivals and encouraging budding dancers of other classical dances, apart from bringing out books on the village and the dance gurus. A book on Paarijatam will soon be brought out by the ABKNK.
