Telangana state BA History textbooks are set to have a revised syllabus from next year. The focus will be only on Telangana history, culture and folklore. Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) is revising the syllabus completely replacing the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh in the State History section.
Prof Mallesh Sankasala, vice chairman of TSCHE says, “Topics to be revised are chosen by a committee comprising of faculty members from history departments of all State universities along with TSCHE officials. There will be no mention of Andhra Pradesh in the State History section.
There will be a separate chapter on the 1969 agitation for Telangana statehood while the 2009 movement will be part of the Contemporary History pages. Information on Bathukamma festival will be included as well.
A mention about unified Andhra Pradesh will be seen in only two parts as part of National History. Potti Sreeramulu, known as father of erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh was forced onto the students previously.”
